Install and check access
After installing Wipr 2, turn on its content-blocker entries in Safari > Settings > Extensions. If Wipr Extra appears separately, review its website access. Labels and access controls can vary by macOS version, so use the options shown in your current Safari settings.
Troubleshoot components separately
Safari’s Wipr content-blocker entries apply page-content rules. Wipr Extra is a separate companion extension with website-access permission, while Filtr is a distinct network-level feature. Changing one component’s permission does not verify the others. If a site behaves differently, inspect the relevant component’s status and access in Safari Settings, reload, and compare. For site-specific pausing or allowing, use only controls actually shown in your installed version.
Scope and removal
Safari content blocking targets page content; it does not inspect all network traffic like antivirus software or a firewall. It cannot guarantee that every ad or consent banner disappears. If you no longer need Wipr, turn off the extension or remove the app. Apple notes that deleting an app does not necessarily cancel a separate subscription.
