Copy a screen region
Text Extractor uses OCR to copy text from a selected area to the clipboard. Enable it in PowerToys settings, press the default Win+Shift+T, and drag over the text. The result is copied; press Esc to cancel.
Check language and output
Paste into a text editor and compare numbers, symbols, and line order with the screen. The default language follows Windows system-language and keyboard settings. Install a supported OCR language pack and select the preferred language in settings. For example, a screen showing Order code: A0B1 might be read by OCR as Order code: AOB1. This illustrates zero/O confusion; it is hypothetical, not a measured test result.
Distinguish OCR from screenshots
This utility extracts text; Microsoft recommends Snipping Tool for screenshots. OCR may be imperfect, so verify commands, amounts, and account details against the screen. Select only the necessary region for sensitive content and check where the pasted text will go.
