Preview before opening
Peek is included with PowerToys. Confirm PowerToys is running and Peek is enabled, then select a file in File Explorer and press the default Space shortcut. You can change the shortcut in settings.
Choose the next step
Use the arrow keys to move among files in the folder. Press Enter or choose Open with to open the current file in its default app. For example, skim image candidates in Peek and open only the selected image in an editor when you need to edit it. This is illustrative, not a test on a particular PC.
Formats and deletion
Microsoft lists images, Office documents, videos, web pages, Markdown, text, and some developer files, but does not promise every format will preview. A preview does not prove print or editing fidelity. Delete moves a file to the Recycle Bin and normally asks for confirmation. Recheck the name and selection before deleting.
