What the integration provides
Git for Windows offers Explorer shell integration to open Bash or its GUI from a folder. During setup, check whether the ext\reg\shellhere component is selected. The available menu depends on the installed version and chosen components.
Launch from the intended folder
Right-click the project folder and choose Git Bash Here. On Windows 11, if it is missing, open Show more options or press Shift+F10 to inspect the classic menu. If it is still absent, confirm the folder menu and then check the installer’s shell-integration component. After Bash opens, run pwd to verify the path and git status before repository work. This is a safety-check example, not a test on a particular PC.
Know the boundary
The menu is a way to open a terminal; it does not initialize a repository, choose a branch, commit changes, or guarantee remote synchronization. Bash can open even in a non-repository folder, so verify the path and repository state first.
