Create and Verify Archives from the 7-Zip Explorer Menu
Compression depends on file type and settings. Distinguish the 7z format’s AES-256 capability from the options used, then test the archive you create.

Create an archive from Explorer
Select files or a folder, right-click, and choose 7-Zip > Add to archive. Some Windows versions may require Show more options first. In the dialog, choose the format, compression method, and split size that fit the task; verify the name and destination before saving.
Compare compression by checking the result
The 7z format supports high compression ratios, but not every file becomes smaller. Already-compressed photos, videos, or documents may change little or grow. Use copies of important files to create test 7z and ZIP archives, then compare size and confirm that both extract correctly before choosing a format.
Treat encryption and password delivery separately
The 7z format supports AES-256 encryption. What is protected depends on format and options, so check whether filenames are included when handling sensitive material. Sending the archive and password in the same email or chat may expose both together; use separate channels. After creating the archive, test extraction and verify that the password opens the expected contents.
Check
Can you create an archive from Explorer? Did you compare size and extraction on test files? Are the archive and password delivered separately?
